At the Institute of Materials Science and Technology (IMT), Chair of Materials Science, of the Friedrich-Schiller-University (FSU) Jena, Germany, the following position is available: One postdoctoral position (full time) in Polymer Materials Science / Polymer Physics The position is available from 2. January 2013 and is initially for two years (extension possible). The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work at state-of-the-art facilities on polymers within one of Germanya?™s leading research universities. Qualifications expected: a??? PhD in physics or materials science or chemistry a??? Experience and knowledge in materials science and one or more of the following areas: polymers, structuring of materials, materials interfaces , microscopy, spectroscopy a??? Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and / or English Main working tasks include: a??? Creation of polymer-CNT/graphene-nanocomposites and / or stimulation responsive (smart) structured polymer systems a??? Structure-property investigations of the polymer/polymer composite systems by SEM-FIB, AFM, XPS, QCM and optical methods, electronic / mechanical testing of the physicochemical properties and functions of materials interfaces and structures a??? Preparation of scientific publications and reports, participation in the management and application of external funding projects and project management a??? Teaching classes within the teaching program material science and physics (courses, seminars, lectures, labs), for BSc, MSc candidates There is ample opportunity for continuing education and training.
