Maintenance participates in an effective parts standardization program and evidence of this program can be demonstrated An effective standardization program will include at least the following elements: a) Identification of types of parts that can be standardized. b) Reduction of the variety of items that perform the same function. c) Review of Engineering design specifications with input from maintenance The standardization process must be formally structured and organized, not just a loose collection of improvement activities. There must be a guiding process that effectively involves all affected departments: Maintenance, Engineering, Operations and Purchasing.
