Prior work suggests that metacognitive experience affects the way that decisions are made
(Schwarz, 2004), particularly in that it facilitates understanding of a given situation (Haynie et al.,
2005). This contextual element is important in that metacognitive experiences are especially
likely to occur in situations that require careful and conscious consideration, which then engenders increased cognitive control (Flavell, 1979).
