When westerners refer to dogs,they are talking about loyalty and something in the theme of affection.
But back to Chinese,people always link dog with abusive words.
I am sure you are show your love for dogs!
As for me,after my dog eaten by cold-blooded hunter who I hadn't even known,I am not able to have another because of loosing the former.

The relationship built between human and dog can be so deep as dog response to human just like they are same human being, they are so smart they could recognize your sound and commands, and understand if you are feeling down or sad and give you hug as you just need it right the way.
