At 10:40 am, our bulletin train left the railway station for Beijing. According to the schedule, it will arrive to West Beijing Railway Station at about 3:40 pm. When the train got to Hebei Province, after it passed by Shijiazhuang, we saw very big ponds of water near the railway, at some places, we can only see the about 5-cm long top of corn plants, some houses are also in water. My wife said, a heavy storn has happened in Beijing on July 21, I did not read the news, so I knew nothing about the rain. It seems heavy rain has occured here too. The train moved on. Later it stopped. We waited. After about 20 minutes, the speaker said, the train would stop here for another 20 minutes, because there were too many trains were waiting ahead. After 20 minutes, the train was still there. Later, an attendant said, he and other staff on the train did not know when we would get to our destination. An old lay complained, how could not you know? Don't you know how many trains are ahead of us? Don't you know how much time one train needs to unload and load? How cann't you estimate when we will get to the station? The attendant only apologized. Later, at about 7:30, some passengers went to the catering car to buy food. At this time, the train began to move. Wow! Nealy every body cried with joy! Later, when we took a taxi in Beijing, the driver said, some people complained that they were overcharged on July 21 when they took a taxi, but, because the rain was heavy, there were deep water on the ground, the chance that a car was damaged was much hgiher than on average days. And, he added, in fact, a taxi-driver could only earn about 100 yuan a day, it was very low. He said, I myself did not want to be scolded, I did not want to make money on such a day, so I only stayed home. On the second day, when we walked in the Chaoyang Park, we can found the mark of the water surface on the fence beside a stream was still about 40 cm higher than the water surface. It seems our environment was still very fragile when facing a natural hazard. As we changed the environment more, the environment was more faraway from a natural one. The ground was paved with more and more, a little rain will result in a large runoff. However, the drainage system is not strong enough to solve such a problem. Of course, pavement and drainage are only tow sides of this problem. How to live a life which is friendly to the environment? |
