Two kinds of apples. \"Kind\" is countable and can be plural followed by a numerical definitive; whereas the subject, apple, can be either singular (if it is an uncountable noun, eg. paper, or a countable noun with only singular form, eg. people) or plural (if it is a countable noun, eg. apple) [ 发自手机版 http://muchong.com/3g ] |

In a more constructive manner, I think the answers in this link are more explicit: http://english.stackexchange.com ... -singular-or-plural Further, in North America, we prefer "two kinds of apples" over "two kinds of apple", whereas Britons prefer "two kinds of apple". |
