Rice is one of the dominant crops in the world, particularly in Asia. China is the largest rice-producing country in the world, whose total rice output ranks first. Rice originates from the low-latitude tropical regions and is characteristic of adapting high temperature and low sunshine environment. the rice growth, however, requires a appropriate temperature range. High temperature will harm rice during reproductive stage in case of more than 35°C. Due to constant emission of the green house gas such as carbon dioxide(CO2) and methane(CH4) since Industrial Revolution, global temperatures is continuing to rise. The fourth assessment report released by the working group of IPCC on February 2 stated clearly that average temperature of the Earth’s surface in the latest 100 year raise up 0.74°C and was expected to increase 1.2-6.4°C,and extreme climate ,such as high temperature in summer ,would occur more frequently and keep longer in many regions of all over the world. In the background of globe warming, high temperature damage for rice happens frequently in china, which is one of the main disastrous climate for rice growth. In response to the outstanding trouble, worldwide researchers carried out a lot of studies on the impact of high temperature on growth ,development ,output and quality of rice and its mechanism. For references of research of improving resistance of rice to high temperature cultivation and high temperature resistance varieties breeding ,this paper review progresses in the field of the impact of high temperature on growth ,development ,output ,quality and features of rice and its control, and present suggestions for Anti-adversity research of rice.
