GC/GCMS Testing Position
We are seeking an individual with extensive expertise in GC/GCMS systems including hardware and software to act in a role of systems quality assurance tester. A successful candidate will have an understanding of mass spectrometry and its use in GC; as well as a passion and understanding of the details of MS hardware and software systems. Knowledge of the software testing discipline and its integration with software development life cycle is a plus.

This individual must be familiar with the basic maintenance procedures for a GC that include injector maintenance (change glass liners, etc), syringe cleaning/replacement and optimizing detector response. They should be able to prepare liquid samples and standards for autosampler and manual injection; as well as have an understanding of serial dilutions. They must be familiar with lab safety protocols for handling and preparing liquid samples.

The mail responsibility of this role is to evaluate and ensure the quality of the software in its R&D phase. The software will be provided to our customers to use/control PerkinElmer GC/GCMS instruments. The day-to-day work includes developing test cases according to software requirement documents, executing tests, logging bugs, reporting quality status, providing feedback and opinions on software advancements.

A qualified candidate has used chromatography data handling software to collect GC, GCMS or LC sample data (TotalChrom, ChemStation, EZChrom, Empower, etc) and knows how to build a data collection method as well as build and start a sample sequence. Furthermore, this person must be familiar with the method techniques necessary to collect sample data, identify component peaks, calibrate a method, and reprocess collected data to produce a sample reports with sample component concentrations. Understanding external standard and internal standard calibrations, and how to build a multi-level calibration is a requirement

The ability to work as part of a team and effectively manage multiple projects is critical.

Qualifications:
• Significant hands-on experience with GC/MS (2-4 years) use and troubleshooting.
• PerkinElmer TurboMass GC/MS experience is a significant plus.
• Knowledge of GC/MS customer use scenarios, MS (quadruple) hardware, and GC/MS applications important.
• Experience with GC/MS hardware and software system specification, design, and testing a plus.
• An exceptional mix of scientific expertise, customer focus and communications skills are required to meet the needs of this position.
• Experience with Headspace and Thermal Desorption techniques is a significant plus
• Excellent Documentation skills per GLP standards is a must
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English
• Strong analytical skills and proven problem solving ability
