Post Doctoral Fellow Faculty of Medicine School of Public Health and Community Medicine REF. 8835NET Salary Level A: A$75K - A$80K per year (plus 17% employer superannuation and leave loading). The School of Public Health & Community Medicine (SPHCM) at The University of New South Wales is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to conduct research into the analysis of public health risks associated with potable water recycling schemes as part of a major grant from the Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr James Wood (SPHCM) and A/Prof Greg Leslie from the School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering. The School of Public Health and Community Medicine is internationally recognised as a leader in Public Health with particular research strengths in Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases, Health Services Management, Global Health, Indigenous Health and Primary Health Care. The School has a core focus to investigate and provide new knowledge to help inform policy, governance, organisation, work and leadership in the health sector through cross disciplinary research with both academia and industry. In addition to their interests in risk-analysis in relation to water infrastructure, Dr Wood and A/Prof Leslie maintain active applied research programs which rely heavily on the use of mathematical and statistical models within their respective research domains. Dr Wood is a specialist in mathematical epidemiology of infectious diseases, while A/Prof Leslie is an expert on the implementation and analysis of water reuse systems. It is anticipated that in addition to the specific requirements in regard research under grant, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute in both these areas with a view to a longer term role in quantitative applied research at UNSW.
