A reunion
Gulangyu is the second stop. It is a beautiful famous island. The pounding of the breakers on the reef that has been divided in half can give off the sound like drums. You know the BBS of the university is ¡°Gulangtingtao¡± which come from the scene perhaps. That is the reason the island called Gulangyu and the reef called Gulangshi.
Thank to the cloudy day, we need not plenty of sunblock. Because of the shower yesterday night£¬it became cooler. We reached it by steamship in about 5 minutes.
The island is renowned for the delicate natural beauty, ancient relics, and varied architecture. There are several former consulates which have been over one hundred years old. Some of the buildings have been maintained to open with the original style. We visited the old Xiehe Hall where the wedding ceremony of Lin Yutang and his wife was hold. The Old Catholic cathedral which was designed by Spanish in 1916 has not been open to tourists. We were glad to photograph the old buildings and their grounds. The famous piano museum gives it the nickname of "Piano Island" or "The Town of Pianos" or "The Island of Music". It is said there are over 200 pianos on this island and you can hear the pleasant melody when you wander among the buildings in the island. Unfortunately, we could not have the amazing experience now. The peaceful island is unique as traffic free that neither cars nor bicycles are allowed except electric tourist buggies. So we could see teams of strong men to pull on the wheeled buggies.  
On the west beach of the island we took off shoes to walk on the beach. When we played in the water, wave after wave rushed us. How funny! We looked like childrens. We went through the narrow streets to get something to eat. The local food£¬such as Hailijian£¬Shachamian£¬and Tusundong is great. And Jinbaoyin made by sticky rice, meet and mushroom was my favorite. There are many boutique hotels to stay in as well. Together with the architecture of various styles around the world, they give the island a unique appearance. As the long walks, we were so tired that we would like not to walk any more. At last, At last we took electric tourist buggies along the Island Ring Road, which circles the island to fully enjoy all the sights of the charming island.
