[交流] a pretty sorry presentaion from the dean of ... College, ... University, China

This afternoon, a friend, named A for short, invited me to participate in a seminar. A large team lead by the dean of ...College, ....University, China, visited A's lab. Here i want to personally name the dean master Tang, which is inspired by the story from the movie Da Hua Xi You. The trip was planned to strengthen the academic communication. Considering the communication difficulty induced by languge, a translator was prepared. At first, the director of A's lab made a presentation, short introduction of the lab followed by the recent research activities. In sequence, master Tang, the dean, should show his researh highlights. The sad story is coming. Master Tang started his presention with the introduction of ...Uinversity as the convention emphasizing 985 and 211, a well known starting mode, however i have never ever thought the end. Master Tang took a long time to attempt to spread the history of his university, even shown us several photos of the first graduates' collection. And then, he presented us nice statisticals, the exact number of academicians of Chinese academy of science or engineering, undergraduate, graduate, PhD students, professors, professors who are eligible to supervise PhD students and so on. So far, it costed master Tang and the translator 30 minutes and there was just 10 minutes left. Crazily, master Tang used half of the left time to show us his so-called professional positions, most of them means nothing for the foreigners. Thanks to the god, he did lead us several slides associated with his research in last five minutes. I expierienced the same feeling as that monkey Sun suffered when master Tang preached for 35 minutes. At last I would like to show my sympathy to the translator for his awkwardness when he could not match the Chinese special terms into his vocabulary list.
