2011年十二月20号，我首次发邮件咨询俄亥俄大学某学院的博士后位置 回复：Please send me your CV plus any other documents that I can have on hand that I can review. Also, you should keep an eye out for possible funding sources from within China that would enable you to come here self-funded. We currently have one Chinese graduate student that is here under such an arrangement as well as a post-doc that should come in 2012. 我当即提交了简历，并回复说，自己申请经费难度很大。希望对方能考虑增加资助名额。 回复：Thanks. I have your CV and we’ll keep it on hand. 圣诞节，我给这位老师发去了圣诞祝福。 开学后，他回复：Thanks Yan Wei. My family and I had a good Christmas. And a Happy New Year to you when it comes!!! Also, I keep your resume on file and will keep you updated on any opportunity that may arise. 2012年1月6号，我给他发去了我的硕士，博士成绩单。 回复：Thanks, I have added this e-mail to your information. 2012年2月7号，一篇比较好的SCI文章刊出，我给他发了过去，并介绍这个研究的重要性。 回复：Thanks for this. Very interesting paper.I am keeping this on hand for future reference. 中间三个月没有联系，直到昨天，2012年5月16号，再次咨询他博士后的位置，并说明自己即将论文答辩，非常想去你们课题组，但是没有找到资助，希望能得到你们的资助，并提交了最新的CV. 今天回复：Thanks for your updated CV. I will keep it on hand. 就这些，大家看看有没有拿到资助的希望。谢谢！ 另外，keep it on hand出现了好几次，到底怎么理解？ 新进展：发了最后一份催促的信，带有抱怨拖沓的意思，让他们给个确切信息。 回复：We have not decided if we will be hiring yet, so be patient.
