| Since silanol groups are relatively more reactive in PDMS-OH that in hydrolyzed TEOS (due to withdrawal of electronic density from the silicon atoms by the organic substituents) they can be rapidly incorporated to free hydroxyl groups in the gel by forming siloxane bonds, increasing the relative amount of Q4 sites (around −107 ppm) as it is shown in Fig. 5b. |
