The Department of Chemistry at Michigan Technological University invites applications from highly motivated scholars for a postdoctoral research position. The successful applicant will work on a multidisciplinary project funded by the National Science Foundation to develop an AFM-based technology for single-molecular sequencing of genomes. A PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and a strong publication record in the field are required. An individual with a high motivation to broaden their skills in biochemistry, molecular biology, AFM and other areas is indispensable to the project. Prior experience in biochemistry, molecular biology or AFM that facilitates communication with scientists on the research team is desirable but not required. Candidates with strong interests, not only to develop the technology but also to play a key role in its commercialization, will be given favorable consideration. The review of applications will begin upon receipt and will continue until the position is filled. A start date in early summer is anticipated.
