What is your long-cherished desire/dream/ambition/wish? His long-cherished dream had been to travel around the world in 80 days, and he did. Her long-cherished desire had been to meet her own parents, and she did. The whites' long-cherished wish had been to get thirty thousand pounds, and they did.
