The pink flowers in my hometown

Every spring, I remember the pink flowers in my hometown. And, as time goes on, the feeling becomes stronger and stronger. My hometwon lies on the loess plateau in the northwest of our country. The plateau has been devided into pieces by the streams in the long history. The valleys are deep, and often, the flat part of the plateau is smaller than that of the valleys. When I was young, most people still live in Yaodong, that is manmade caves digged in the earth at the side of the valleys. In every yard, there are several Yaodongs, for sleeping, for cooking and for storage. Many fruit trees are planted near the yards. The most common fruit trees are apricot and pear trees. These trees are often very tall, about 10 meters or more. In summer, we often play in the shadows of these trees near our home. The season I want to talk here is spring.  In winter, we wear cotton coat and trousers, which are made by our mother. We have a few clothings, so, every child only has one coat and one pair of trousers. From the beginning of winter to the beginning of spring, we wear the same coat and the same trousers. These clothes are thick, making movement difficult. Thus, many children like spring more than winter, because in spring, they can wear thinner clothes. As the temperature increases, the trees begin germinating, and the wind also becomes warm. When we come home from school in the afternoon of spring, we often unbutton the coat to feel cooler.  In order to get home, we have to walk down the slopes, which are surrounded by the tall, big trees. In the warm afternoon, you can find many pink flowers of apricot trees. There are so many of them, they look like pink clouds in the air. Also, you can find many pink fower petals on the ground. When you eys see these, your nose can feel the fresh, sweet and fragnant smell of the flowers. According to my memory, the pear trees blosoom after the apricot trees. There are only two pear trees near our home, their flowers are completely white. You can say they are as white as milk, or as white jade. These two tree grow in the lower part of the slope, and are about 20 to 30 meters from our Yaodong. So, in spring, whatever direction you look toward, you can find trees covered with flowers, flowers of different, lovlely colors. Apricot and pear trees blosoom before the buds of leaves spread. So, in this season, you can see many trees only decorated with flowers. I left my hometown after entering college. After that, I have never been there in spring, have never seen the clouds of pink or white flowers in my hometown. As I become older, the miss of my hometown, of my hometown in spring is becoming stronger. I hope, one day, I will have the chance to go to my hometown when the apricot trees or the pear trees are waving the clouds of flowers in the warm wind of spring.  |
