[交流] Sentences from Sand and Foam

Recently，I am reading a book《Sand and Foam》.
The writer is Kahlil Gibran, an excellent poet of Lebanon.
I‘d like to share some sentences of the book with everybody.


1.Sow a seed and the earth will yield you a flower.
Dream your dream to the sky and it will bring you your beloved.
播下一颗种子，大地将为你生长出一株鲜花。
向天空许下一个愿望，天空会把你心爱的人带到你的面前。

2.If all they say of good and evil were true, then my life is but one long crime.
如果他们所说的善和恶是对的话，那我的生命只不过是一宗长期的罪行。

3.Rememberance is a form of meeting.
Forgetfulness is a form of freedom.
记忆是相聚的一种形式。
忘怀是自由的一种形式。

4.I long for eternity because there I shall meet my unwriten poems and my unpaid pictures.
我渴望来生，因为这样我会遇到我未写就的诗和未完成的画。

5.There is a space between man's imagination and man's attainment that may only be traversed by his longing.
在理想和现实之间存在的差距，只能靠一个人的渴望来连接。

6.In the autumn I gathered all my sorrows and beried them in my gardon.
秋来，我收集起我所有的忧伤，将它们埋葬在花园中。

7.We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.
远在体验之前，我们已经选择了自己的欢乐和忧伤。

8.The bitterest thing in our today's sorrow is the memory of our yesterday's joy.
我们今日的悲哀中，最痛苦的莫过于忆起昨日的快乐。

9.Only those with serects in their hearts could divine the serects in our hearts.
只有心中有秘密的人才能识破我们心中的秘密。

10.If your heart is a volcano how shall you expect flowers to bloom in your hands?
如果你的心是一座火山，那你怎能指望你的手中长出鲜花呢？

11.Humanlity is a river of light running from the ex-eternity to eternity.
人性是一条光河，从永久之前流向永久。

12.We often borrow our tomorrows to pay our debts to our yesterdays.
我们经常预支明天来偿还昨天的债务。

19.Birth and death are two noblest expressions of bravery.
生和死是勇敢的两种最高贵的形式。

20.When I stood a clear mirror before you, you gazed into me and saw your image.
Then you said:" I love you."
But in truth you loved yourself in me.
当我化为一面明镜站在你面前时，你凝视着我，看到了你自己的形象。
然后你说：“我爱你."
但事实上你不过是爱镜中的自己。

21.Solitude is a silent storm that break down all our dead branches;
Yet it send our living roots deeper into the living heart of the living earth.
孤独是一场吹落我们枯枝的沉默的风暴。
但它把我们鲜活的根深植于鲜活土地的鲜活心脏之中。

22.When you reach the heart of life you shall find beauty in all things, even in the eyes that are blind to beauty.
当你到达生命之心的时候，你会发现所有事物的美好，甚至是在无视美好的人眼中
