The Faculty of Science, Department of Physics, Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) offers within an ESF-junior research group at the earliest possible date the position of a

PhD / Member of academic staff in the area of orthogonal photolithography for patterned, highly efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) (E 13 TV-L)

this position which entails 50% of the fulltime weekly hours in the first and which entails 62,5% of the fulltime weekly hours in the second year and is limited until December 31st 2013. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).
The IAP is one of the worlds leading research institutes for organic electronic devices. The doping technology for organic small molecule semiconductors developed at IAP enables development of high efficiency organic light emitting diodes, solar cells and thin film transistors.
Tasks: The successful candidate will be expected to participate and to take responsibilities in the investigation of patterned, highly efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by orthogonal photolithography, including:
Fabrication of OLEDs with small active areas and study of fundamental physics of such devices.
Investigation of the influence of the photolithography process on the device performance (current density, brightness, lifetime).
Requirements: Very good completion of appropriate university studies in the field of physics, chemistry, electrical engineering or microelectronics is required. The completion of the degree should not date earlier than April 2010. The applicant should have good practical skills, should be interested in applied research, organic electronics and molecular physics.
