it is not a good news, but the experience of the old lady is so pitiful, maybe she also hoped she would have a hanppy life when she was old, like you told above, her daughters-in-law was not nice to her, she lost all of her hope, when she had a lquarrel wiht her husband, she may found in this world, no anyone she could to depend on.

So, life is often unfair, some people meet too many difficuties in their lives, but, some don't. But, I think, we should smile to what we meet.
