The synthesis of the Schiff bases involved refluxing equimolar amounts of the appropriate benzaldehyde with the respective thiosemicarbazide, aryl hydrazide or dithiocarbazate, in ethanol. After 4 h, precipitated products were isolated. If no precipitate was formed, the products were obtained after partial evaporation of the solvent or precipitation with a minimum amount of water. The Schiff bases were washed with ethanol and dried in vacuo. |
