call external program in a win32 application
|
| I am developing a win32 application using Qt. Right now my application has to call a program that operate an extrenal machine connected to PC using serial port and let the machine to read some optical density data and then export that data to my application. I am using QProcess and it successfully launches that external program. My questions are: how my program ask that external program to perform the menu operations like "read optical density" and "export data" so that my program can get the optical density data. There are several ways to build up communications among applications. However, they depend on the functions of the applications, which means you may not be able to talk to a running program when it cannot receive and response to your callings. As to your question, one simple appraoch is to read the files the external program wrote/exported. This is absolutely slow.... Unless you have the source code of the external program or it has the function to set up communications to your codes. |
