Chi-Ming Che obtained his PhD degree in 1982 from The University of Hong Kong (HKU). Following research studies at the California Institute of Technology (from 1980 to 1983), he joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry at HKU in 1983 and was promoted in 1992 to a Chair Professor. Since 1999, he has been Dr Hui Wai-Haan Chair of Chemistry at HKU. Prof. Che is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (since 1995), a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (since 2007), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (since 2009). In 2007, he received the prestigious First Class Prize of the State Natural Science Award from China. He has over 750 scientific publications, with a current H-index of 79, and is listed (since 2005) in the ISI Highly Cited Researchers by ISI HighlyCited.com. His research interests include inorganic and organic synthesis, metal–ligand multiple bonds, metal-catalyzed organic transformations, organometallic and inorganic photochemistry, luminescent materials, and inorganic medicines. |
