The new sections added to it from previous editions (rapid prototyping, laser forming and laser cleaning) reflect how lasers are being used more in manufaturing. A very short section on laser safety is also added. The result, however, is an even wider subject field than previously (it could fill 100 books if covered in depth). I would recommend anyone beginning a course of study or career in laser processing to sit down and read this book first to put everything in perspective. It is written in a way that makes it firstly readable and only secondarily a reference book. More in-depth books in more specific interest areas will be required for specialists.
