dumbfounding means : to confound briefly and usually with astonishment, not means whether to cry or to laugh.
However, I don't know of one specific word that would be suitable. There is one slang word, 'gobsmacked', but it doesn't really mean 'not knowing whether to laugh or cry'; it just means 'shocked'.
