A new method has been applied to fabricate bimodal grain structure in ultrafine-grained low carbon steels.This method is based on the plane strain compression of a martensitic starting structure and subsequent annealing at elevated temperature for short time. The annealing process was carried out at the temperature of 500 and 600 °C for 1.5 ks and 120 s, respectively. The final microstructure after recrystallization is composed of ultrafine and coarse grains along with the precipitation of carbide particles (cementite) within the coarse grains. This has been considered to be the reason for the observed superior balance of ductility and strength.

本文运用一种新方法来生成双峰晶粒结构,制造超细晶低碳钢。此方法基于马氏体的起始结构的平面应变压缩以及在短时间内升温的持续加热。加热过程为分别在温度500和600摄氏度时进行1.5千秒和120秒。再结晶后得到的最终显微组织是由超细晶粒和粗晶粒组成,其中粗晶粒里含有析出的碳化物粒子(碳化铁)。这可以看成是该产品同时具有优越的韧性和强度的原因。
