Flatulence for lithium titanate is a very serious problem, and what is reason for producing flatulence is not so clear. Anyway, it is generally believed that the possible reasons are as follows:
1, the serious absorbent for LTO.
2, the catalytic effect of Ti-O bond which could make catalyzed decomposition of the electrolyte.
The possible solution may be based on the following methods:
1, A surface coated with a thin layer of passivation layer (such as alumina);
2, to improve the electrolyte formula;
3, to improve its chemical synthesis methods.
Lithium titanate, which has such problem while is of great many advantages (high safety performance and cycle performance, etc.), has attracted scientists' extensive attention, and it was believed that such problem will be solved by further research.
