推荐阅读《美国文化阅读教程》

学习多年的英语了，但还很少接触到美国文化方面的阅读材料，从图书馆借了一本《美国文化阅读教程》（American Valuee and its Culture Reading Course）,天津大学出版社，2004。作者：宁洪。书中材料都是从美国人写的书中直接摘录的，作者对一些难词和句子给出了解释，共有13章，27篇文章，内容包括了美国的经济、政治、教育、娱乐等方面的内容，最有意思的是第一章提出了一个问题：什么是文化？ 快读完了，我感觉通过阅读这样的材料收获有： 1、对美国人的一些文化有了更多的了解； 2、对一些单词知道了更多的意思； 3、知道了一些经典句子的用法。 |

What is Culture? Eight essential sociological principles are significant to understand culture. 1.Cuture consists of material and non-material components. 2.Geographical and historical forces shape the character og cuture. 3.Culture is learned. 4.Culture is the tool that enables the individual to adjust to the problems of living. 5.It is difficult to separate the effeects of nonmaterial and material cultures on behavior. 6.People borrow ideas, materials, products, and other inventions from other societies. 7.The home culture is usually the standard that people use to make judgements about the matreial and nonmaterial cultures of another society. 8.In every society there are groups that posses distinctive traits that set them apart from the main culture. |
