The sulfated zirconia powders supported in mesoporous materials (designated here as SZ/SBA-15) were prepared according to the procedure given in the literature [] by dispersion of ZrOCl2•8H2O into the mesopores, followed by the hydrolysis, activation, and sulfation. In a typical procedure: (1) ZrOCl2•8H2O was dispersed into the mesoporous materials such as SBA-15, measured amounts of ZrOCl2•8H2O (2–16%ZrO2) and SBA-15 were mixed and ground thoroughly and then put into an 80℃ oven for 12 h; (2) the mixture was impregnated into ammonia solution at room temperature, then after stirring for 5 min, amorphous Zr(OH)4 was formed in the mesopores, after which the sample was filtrated and dried at room temperature, followed by activation at 140℃ for 5 h; (3) the sample was treated by 0.5M of H2SO4 solution at room temperature for 10 min; (4) the sample was calcined at 600℃ in air for 3 h. |
