| Despite the recent successes, there is still a long way to go before photothermal therapy can be applied clinically.One crucial issue to be addressed is the safety concerns associated with laser applications. Although the previous in vitro studies have shown that the laser energy threshold effective for damaging cancer cells labeled with gold nanoparticles can be reduced below the medical safety level .For in vivo therapy, much higher energy is required to produce enough heat to killmalignant cells localized deep inside a tissue. In the case of photothermal treatment of tumours xenograft subcutaneously on mice, skin burn and peeling off was observed . This high energy input is a potential safety hazard when tumours inside a body particularly in inner organs are treated. |

| 尽管近期取得了一定成功,距离光热疗法的临床应用还有很长一段路要走。一个需要解决的关键问题是关于激光应用的安全性。尽管在以前的体外实验中,已经证实,激光能量设置于医学安全的范围下,已足够有效杀死用金纳米粒子标记的癌细胞。在体内治疗中,若想产生足够的热量,杀死组织深处的恶性细胞,则需要更高的能量。在用光热疗法治疗小鼠皮下植入的肿瘤细胞实验中,可观察到皮肤发生烧伤和脱落。当治疗体内的肿瘤,尤其是位于器官内部的肿瘤时,这样的高能量输入为治疗的安全性带来了潜在的威胁。 |
