审稿意见“negative controls.”到底啥意思？

文章审回了，有一条意见没看明白，具体如下： There is no clear explanation of metabolite levels in negative controls. The authors did not appear to measure (or report) oxidative and reductive chemical levels at day 0 across the treatment groups. Again, it is difficult to evaluate the change without a clear understanding of baseline levels of these measured congeners in negative controls, at day 0, and across all treatments. 里面的negative controls 是什么意思啊？ 第0天取样，是不是空白对照？不理解，求助。 |
