Do You Really Think The Foreigners Are Different From Us?
As in my life, I have contacted with serveral foreigners, they are foreign teachers of English class, overseas students, casual travellers and so on. In all, I didn't know them very much. Especially when I was young, I was very curious about people who lived in a different world from us, how they are educated and brought up, how they live and get on with each other, how they think about the world. I don't mean they are mysterious or advanced than us or something. Actually the things I'm curious about is their thinking patterns and attitudes towards individual and sociaty, I guess. I know it sounds a little empty or conceptual, but I am very glad to hear your opinions. Movies, TV palys and books do tell me a lot about them, but personal experiences could tell me more definitely. Maybe I would better go abroad to see and feel by myself one day, but now welcome to share your experiences with me and someone doubted the same thing as me. So, do you really think the foreigners are different from us? |

| Big question. I doubt people could really give you a satisfied answer. I think foreigner here means mostly for European and American. Regardless we all see there are many differences existing, visible or invisible, but hard to give an organized answer, skin color/language/blood.. What I am curious is why there is so different initial religion between eastern and western countries, and this mystery may be a thread on the right direction. Is it caused by atmosphere or geography? Or something else... |

Some curious, that is all. For me, it is a completely different feeling to work with foreign people comparing to domestic ones. Impressed by their work attitude and knowledge, and it is reasonable as I am quite a fresh guy compared with them at the beginning, now I am getting better. They are curious about China too, and seems they don't like Chinese beer, taste not good. Just in my case |

Yes, sure they are. Like you said, they are brought up in completely different culture. The way they are cultivated to behave, values they are taught to accept, even trivial matters like daily food and beverage are diversed. So how can they not be different? I used to be considered as a foreigner when I was exchanged to a foreign unversity too. I have to say it was not easy to be treated like an outsider by native citizens, sometimes even by myself because I was a foreigner. But anyway, it was a wonderful experience after all. |

I like foreigers just as they like us. I was taught by a forigen old woman at my high school. She and her husband are Christian. We received their Christmas card after they go back. They send everyone one sentence on the Christmas card. |

You question is easy to answer for me: Yes, I do.![]() Upon my speculation, you might be willing to know a lot of things behind rather than answers to the question. Your curiosity does not sound new to me since a lot of people have the same. I can see your curiosity from your question, but I have seen no specific points, so I do not think it would be easy for you to find a sound answer over here. |
