A series of PET/Mineral filler composites were prepared by melt blending. Crystallization and melting behavior of PET composites respectively containing Calcium Carbonate(CaCO3), Montmorillonite(MMT) and Attapulgite(AT) of various thermal histories were studied by Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC). The effect of veriety CaCO3 in tensile strength of PET composites was studied. It was found that there was no significant effect of MMT and AT in slow cooling crystallization of PET. At the same time CaCO3 effectively promoted crystallization of PET in -2.5¡æ/min cooling process, the crystallization enthalpy increased to -11.67J/g, -19.40J/g and -23.22J/g respectively with the growth of CaCO3 contents. Filler types and contents played important roles in cold crystallization and melting during the heating process, when contents was low, the mineral filler assisted crystallization as the crystalline core which MMT was the best of all three. As the contents came higher, mineral fillers affected the crystal structures, leaded to variety DSC curve. Acticity of CaCO3 in PET cold crystallization and melting ranged between MMT and AT, with the common polymer processing methods, PET/CaCO3 composites maintained a sufficiently high tensile strength.

A series of PET/Mineral filler composites have been prepared by the method of melt blending, and the crystallization and melting behaviors of PET composites containing calcium carbonate(CaCO3), montmorillonite(MMT) or attapulgite(AT) during different stages of the thermo process utilizing the differential scanning calorimeter(DSC). Besides, the effects of various types of CaCO3 on the tensile strength have been preliminarily investigated. The results exhibited that MMT and AT did not influence the slow cooling crystallization of PET significantly, whereas CaCO3 has been shown to facilitate the crystallization of PET in this process. The crystallization enthalpy (¡÷Hc) increased with increasing content of CaCO3 at the cooling rate of -2.5¡æ/min, reaching -11.67J/g¡¢-19.40J/g and -23.22J/g, respectively. Moreover, the types and contents of the fillers have also been demonstrated to affect the cold crystallization and melting of the heating process remarkably. Mineral fillers of low contents would promote the nucleation in the cold crystallization of PET, among which MMT has been justified to be the most effective. Mwanwhile, different mineral fillers of relatively high contents would affect the crystal structures of PET, yielding various types of DSC curves. Furthermore, the effect of CaCO3 on the cold crystallization and melting parameters has been proven to range between MMT and AT, and thus, a relatively high tensile strength could be maintained employing the PET/CaCO3 composites prepared by the general polymer processing methods.
