The research on adsorption dynamics assists to discuss the mechanisms of chemical adsorption and heterogeneous catalytic reaction. Elovich equation has been widely applied to chemical adsorption dynamics of solid adsorbent surfaces as XXX, which assumes an index relationship between the adsorption rate and the surface coverage and a linear relationship between the adsorption activation energy and the surface coverage as well. Meanwhile, adsorption isotherm equations are usually written utilizing Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin equations, respectively. Langmuir equation is applicable to both physical and chemical adsorption, assuming a monomolecularic layer adsorption on a uniform surface while ignoring the lateral interactions between the adsorbed molecules, which can be written as XXX. Besides, Freudlich equation, written as XXX, is also applicable to both physical and chemical adsorption, which assumes that the adsorption heat of a non-uniform surface logarithmically decreases with increasing surface coverage. Moreover, Temkin equation, which can be written as XXX, is applicable to only chemical adsorption and assumes that the adsorption heat linearly decreases with increasing adsorption quantity, and the adsorption binding energy is distributed uniformly. |
