General reference to sampling procedures in SW-846 Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste Field Manual , Chapter One, is inadequate to ensure proper sampling procedures and techniques are followed to document closure of regulated units. The selected sampling techniques, equipment, and sample handling protocols from the SW-846 need to be clearly specified in the main text of the closure plan or briefly summarized in the main body of the text with the essential details provided in an appendix. The specific sampling techniques, sampling equipment, and protocols chosen should be clearly documented for each of the sampling areas and mediums to be sampled. |
