Applications are invited for three EPSRC-funded postdoctoral Research Assistant positions in the Laser Chemistry, Spectroscopy and Dynamics Group in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol.  The successful applicants will focus on:

Post 1 with Dr S.J. Greaves - The design and implementation of a liquid microjet in vacuum system within a novel miniaturized molecular beam apparatus to investigate the dynamics of gas-liquid surface reactions. You should have (or be about to receive) a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical physics, or related discipline, and a proven record of experience with some of the following: liquid jet in vacuum technology, tuneable nanosecond or femtosecond pulsed laser systems, high vacuum technology, velocity map imaging methods.

The positions are available from 1 February 2012 for 2 years (post 1) and 1.5 years (post 2 and 3) in the first instance, though each may be extendable for a further year by mutual agreement.

If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or an open-ended contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience. Three years’ appropriate and relevant experience at another higher education institution would normally lead to an appointment on an open-ended contract.
