Don't Cry For Me, China
I don't know how to start or title this article. After collecting reports about Yueyue's critical injury on internet, my heart seems being pressed by huge stones. "What's wrong with you, China?" It's the first thought breaks into my mind. You can't image that such a terrible and cruel accident occurred in China, whoes people are pround of their excellent tradition of kindness. In Foshan, Guangdong Province, a toddler about two years old was hit by a van on a narrow and busy street. The driver didn't stay to call 120. Minutes later, another bigger van run through the toddler's bleeding body. About 18 people had walked past the lying toddler without providing any help. At last, a garbage collector picked up the toddler and moved the toddler to the side of the street. Fortunately, the whole process of the accident was recorded by close-circuit camera. The fleeing drivers were captured and the heartless passers-by were highlighted. I don't know how many people have seen the video of Yueyue. But a nationwide debate is undergoing in China. Most people criticise the heartless passers-by with anger and contempt. Many of them suppose a lawmaking defining the liablities of people while confronting emergency. Some one proposes a jail time for the 18 inactive passers-by. I do not know what exactly should be done. But I'm sure it's the right time to do self-examination for Chinese. In China, there are so many traffic accidents tightening people's nerves this year. If our motherland, China, has real emotions, she must be crying for us. Every Chinese has to admit that the society is seriously ill. We shouldn't have the confidence to announce that Chinese is one of the most excellent nations. 62 years ago, Chairman Mao proclaimed the standing up of China to the world. Today, when other countries are worrying about China's growing up, we, Chinese people, lose their abilities to help an dying toddler lying on street. Then, a elderly woman has to take the burden to warm the cold society. "Don't cry for me, China. I'll contribute my last power." Yueyue, a two years old girl, was murdered by the loveless society. "Don't cry for me, China. I will be better in Heaven." |
