The volume of our international business is growing rapidly and we are seeking new ways of expanding our provision. UCLan Biomedical Technology (Shenzhen) Limited is an international research company that has been established to drive forward leading research on the Shenzhen Virtual University Park (SZVUP). The company is looking to appoint a number of dynamic postdoctoral fellows to undertake high quality collaborative research in the area of Molecular and Soft Matter Modelling, in their Centre for Molecular and Soft matter Modelling (CMSMM). A salary will be offered in the region of 10,000 rmb per month. In addition the successful candidates will be provided with a travel fund to visit the UK and will be provided with a high spec workstation. The postdoctoral fellows will be located on the Shenzhen Virtual University Park (SZVUP). About the centre: University of Central Lancashire (UK) is opening a Centre for Molecular and Soft Matter Modelling (CMSMM) on the premises of Shenzhen Virtual University Park. Its goal will be to establish large collaborative network between UCLan and top researchers in China and to create a world leading centre for molecular modelling of bio-inspired nano structured soft materials, molecular biophysical and bio-medical systems. At this stage we are seeking to employ three researchers at post-doctoral fellow level. The researchers will be located at UCLan Shenzhen Virtual University Park office and supported by a local administrative personal. The computational work will make use of UCLan High Performance Computing Facilities in Preston (UK) via remote access. The work will be supervised by the project leader Dr Marco Pinna at UCLan. CMSMM will form an integral part of UCLan’s Computational Physics Group lead by Professor Andrei Zvelindovsky and UCLan’s Institute of Nanotechnology and Bioengineering. UCLan’s Computational Physics Group is publishing its research in top journals such as ACS Nano, Physical Review Letters, Nature Materials, Soft Matter, Macromolecules, Polymer and others. Professor Zvelindovsky is one of original developers of the world famous modelling software MesoDyn. The research of the staff of the Computational Physics Group receives a high recognition such as Institute of Physics (UK) 2009 Prize in Computational Physics and 2010 Tadion-Rideal Prize for Molecular Science from King’s College London. Job Description To undertake a high quality collaborative research in the area of Molecular and Soft Matter Modelling under supervision of UCLan academics To present research results in top international journals and progress meetings To ensure the research information generated is kept secure To establish collaborative links with top academic groups in China To promote the activities of Shenzhen-UCLan Centre for Molecular and Soft Matter Modelling within the Shenzhen Virtual University Park and external bodies To identify and develop new projects and prepare bids to foster collaboration with top academic groups in China Person Specification General: The successful applicants should have a relevant PhD degree, for instance, in Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Applied Mathematics or Computational Chemical Engineering. Some postdoctoral experience is desirable but not essential. Strong publication record and extensive computer experience are essential. One of three post holders will have management responsibilities for the staff in the Shenzhen-UCLan Centre, therefore experience in project management, marketing and supervision are desirable. Specific: The postdocs will be appointed in the following areas: Area 1 We are seeking a researcher with a strong experience in modelling of biomolecules using Gromacs and/or Amber. Area 2 We are seeking a researcher with a strong experience in soft matter modelling using coarse grained methods (for instance DPD, Monte Carlo, Lattice Boltzmann). Strong programming skills are essential. Area 3 We are seeking a researcher with a strong experience in block copolymer modelling using Self Consistent Field Theory or similar ones.
