[交流] I have nothing to be proud of [aticle from JOY-RIDE ENGLISH]

Once I was holding a conversation with my conscience.
“Don’t mistake that, as mankind, you can feel no more excited, and declare yourself to be the most bright and intelligent animal. In fact, can you figure out what makes you deserve the compliments, my master?” My conscience had a word with me.
“Well, it is mankind that has created the human society. Only mankind can change everything in society, can’t they?” said me, in a rage.
“Things do really get changed. You see the sky, from azure to grey. You see the lake water, from limpid to contaminated. All these are done only by mankind.”
I was speechless.
“In talking to vision, is yours as keen as that of the eagle? In terms of scent, is yours as sensitive as the dog’s? Dare you say that you have the same boldness as the tiger, and the same fortitude as the camel?” My conscience questioned me complacently. “It is mankind who makes the environment so horrible.” My conscience was teaching me a lesson.
There I stood, tacitly.
“My master, you please learn from the ants. They are the most diligent animals in the world, but they never show themselves off. You please learn from the Tibetan antelopes. For the survival of the next generations, the old sacrificed their lives to protect the young from hunters. You please learn from the roosters. They never crow later than the exact moment when the dawn falls.”
“Right. So much you ought to learn from. You need to learn from the loyalty of the dogs, the collaboration of the ants, the dedication of the silkworms, and the sharpness of the monkeys. My master, don’t feel too complacent about yourself. Don’t always think that you are more capable than other creatures. You need to calm yourself down and ponder on what make you so proud. After all, you must learn the art of adoration.” Said my conscience, pleasantly and sternly.
Humiliation swelled up to my heart after hearing its word. Shouldn’t I learn how to adore other creatures? Apart from animals, there were so many other things that deserved my adoration.
I should adore the loft of the high mountains, together with the turbulence of the sea. I should adore the plum blossom for its capacity to resist the cold weather, as well as the lotus for its purity out of the mud.
It was not until the moment that I felt I was just like a drop in the ocean, or a grain of a sand in the desert. How negligible I was as a member of all living things in this planet!
In the course of adoration, I come to realize that it is not my single existence that makes the world beautiful, but the coexistence of all substances that makes beauty scatter all around the planet.
Adoration makes one become modest, as well as learn how to respect others. Adoration makes one feel petty and low. In a nutshell, once you learn the art of adoration, it will equip you with its life-time influence.
