As the description of the methodology used during the research project is finally closing the chapter 3, question should be answered how such method holds its value when well-known challenges of the methodology are applied in such situation. Since the challenges are inherent to the entire methodology, Creswell (1989) analyzed five inherent challenges that not only exist in case study as a separate category, but are parts of a bigger picture of the qualitative research methodology. 1. Challenge/Requirement to identify the case or a scope of the research. The boundaries of the inquiry are a necessity to focus on what is important. It is possible to identify a number of possible candidates that differ in various elements but the final decision should take into consideration whether the situation itself is worthy to study. The challenge is how to define the worthy from not worthy social phenomenon and who decides what constitutes for such a situation. 2. Challenge/Requirement to identify the size of the research. It will require a consideration whether to study a single element/case or multiple elements/cases. |
