Yes, only if you have the recommendation letter from Dale Boger. As I know of, he likes 3 things, Cigar, Coffee, and Synthesis. You can have 3 options to demonstrate your talents, which is not bad.
Synthetic organic chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry is not favored by big pharmas in US nowadays. It was quite hot several years ago. I would not say currently it is the buyer's market.
