An additional element to consider is how management companies use information technology to enhance the process of education (Stewart, 2001) with a point of view that charter schools must follow strict management practices to survive as independent business units. The separation between publicly funded public schools and non-profit charter schools was directly responsible for business survivability as charter schools could close if the available funds no longer cover all expenses. The presence of management companies in charter schools also affects how financial and programmatic resources are allocated in the process of school management. One of the most important developments in charter school domain was a slow saturation of IT as a primary delivery of all school related services. |
