1.acta materialia
这个应该算是材料科学中影响力最大的期刊了吧。
1953年开始的。原来封面是4个圈的，2004年中间开始多了一个圈（theory）。paper都很长的，大都在7page以上吧，现在没有letters的。同一个出版社的还有个scripta materialia。
Acta Materialia's purpose is to publish original papers and occasional critical reviews which advance the understanding of the structural and functional properties of materials: metals and alloys, ceramics, high polymers and glasses. Emphasis is placed on those aspects of the science of materials that are concerned with the relationship between the structure of solids and their properties (mechanical, chemical, electrical, magnetic and optical); with the thermodynamics, kinetics and mechanisms of processes occurring within solids; with experiments and models which help in understanding the macroscopic properties of materials in terms of microscopic mechanisms; and with original work which advances the understanding of structural and functional materials.

2.advanced materials

这个应该是材料科学中if最高的杂志了。
偏重化学方面的，nano什么的很多。大都是fabrication or synthesis的东西。大都是短篇的4 page的letters。同一出版的还有Advanced Functional Materials ，Advanced engineering Materials

3.Philosophical Magazine.

First published in 1798. 玻尔当年nobel prize的文章就发表在这里。

January 2003 sees the first issue of Philosophical Magazine under a new integrated structure - the division into Philosophical Magazine A (structure, defects and mechanical properties) and Philosophical Magazine B (statistical mechanics, electronic, optical and magnetic properties) is no longer appropriate for a subject which continues to evolve and expand. Rather than developing new parts for the journal, the new integrated structure (re-establishing the all-embracing title first adopted in 1798) can cope better with the complexity of forefront research that is increasingly difficult to classify into distinct areas.
Philosophical Magazine publishes contributed articles and critical reviews in the field of condensed matter describing original results, theories and concepts relating to the structure and properties of crystalline materials, ceramics, polymers, glasses, amorphous films, composites and soft matter. Papers emphasizing experimental, theoretical and modelling studies on solids, especially those that interpret their behaviour on an atomic or microscopic scale, are particularly appropriate. We envisage growing coverage of phase transitions, nanotechnology, novel material types, and materials for electronic and related devices. Further evolution is expected to see the development of such topics as soft condensed matter and in particular the interface between hard and soft matter.

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A,
focuses on physical metallurgy and materials science, publishes contributions monthly on all aspects of physical metallurgy and materials science, with a special emphasis on relationships among the processing, structure, and properties of materials. All papers, including symposia contributions, are reviewed by a committee consisting of one member of the Board of Review and one or two other reviewers.
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B,
focuses on process metallurgy and materials processing science, publishes contributions bimonthly on the theoretical and engineering aspects of the processing of metals and other materials, including studies of electro- and physical chemistry, mass transport, modeling, and related computer applications.

Progress in Materials Science publishes authoritative reviews of recent advances in the science of materials and their exploitation in engineering. Emphasis is placed on the fundamental aspects of the subject, particularly those concerning the atomistic and electronic nature of condensed phases, their microstructure, and the relationship between their structure and properties (mechanical, chemical, electrical, magnetic and optical); on the thermodynamics, kinetics, mechanisms and modelling of processes which occur within solids, liquids and other condensed phases; on experiments and models which help in understanding the macroscopic properties of materials in terms of microscopic mechanisms; and on work which advances the understanding of the use of materials in engineering. Materials Science & Engineering R: Reports publishes invited review papers covering the full spectrum of materials science and engineering. The reviews, both experimental and theoretical, provide general background information as well as a critical assessment on topics in a state of flux. The editorial policy of Materials Science & Engineering R: Reports is to serve its readership in two ways. Firstly, it provides a critical overview of the current issues in a well-defined area of immediate interest to materials scientists. Secondly, each review contains an extensive list of references thus providing an invaluable pointer to the primary research literature available on the topic. 8.自然材料》杂志（Nature Materials）于2002年创刊，这是Nature旗下第一个以物理科学为重点的学术刊物。这一新杂志覆盖材料科学研究的各个方面，发表来自所有领域的材料科学家感兴趣的优秀研究论文，例如：纳米材料、半导体材料、聚合物基复合材料、光电子材料等等。个人认为，一般学者是不直接向Nature Materials投稿的，一般都是投nature后被转投到该杂志的，再加上nature的大名，该杂志的影响因子相当高，05年是15.941，04年是13.531，而ADV Mater05年是9.107，04年是8.079。

12.物理类的杂志主要集中在AIP 和APS数据库
美国物理研究所http://www.aip.org/和美国物理学会http://publish.aps.org/,他们所出版的APL，JAP，PRL，PRB都是物理材料类必看的，此外sciencedirect
http://www.sciencedirect.com平台上一些杂志也很不错，是上述期刊的一些有力的补充，像Thin Solid Films，Journal of crystal Growth....
