第23届国际甜味剂讨论会会议稿（2006年8月4-9日） HIGHLIGHTS The 23rd International Sweetener Symposium was held August 5-9, 2006, at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina. The meeting was a success and attendance was strong with more than 400 people from the world sugar and sweetener industry participating. The informative program, compelling panel topics, and impressive headline speakers helped make this one of the best Symposiums ever. Symposium highlights included: - James Woolsey, former director of the CIA, discussed energy security and the role alternative fuels might play. - Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) provided insight into the budgetary and political hurdles facing the next Farm Bill. - House Agriculture Committee Ranking Democrat Collin Peterson (MN) discussed how decisions made in Washington about trade and farm policy could affect America’s sugar producers. - Rep. Charles Melancon (D-LA), a member of the House Agriculture Committee, told the group that extending the existing sugar policy will be critical to southern Louisiana’s hurricane recovery efforts. - Former House Agriculture Committee Chairman Larry Combest (R-TX), the architect of the 2002 Farm Bill, explained that momentum was building to extend the Farm Bill after the recent collapse of World Trade Organization negotiations. - James Wiesemeyer, Vice President of Farm and Trade Policy, Informa Economics and Washington Consultant for ProFarmer, offered an insider’s view into November’s elections, the political climate in Washington, and how it will affect American agriculture. 具体内容可以浏览美国糖业联盟（American Sugar Alliance）的官方网站： http://www.sugaralliance.org/desktopdefault.aspx?page_id=12 http://www.sugaralliance.org/desktopdefault.aspx?page_id=110 [ Last edited by signal023 on 2008-6-2 at 21:32 ] |
