Our new lab is composed of two parts: instrument rooms and chemical preparation rooms. Laser Room 1 (the main laser room, within S7-03-13): this room is equipped with one full set of Spectra-Physics 1kHz high energy sub-50fs laser system: Millennia Pro 5s, Tsunami (Ti:sapphire Oscillator), Spitefire Pro Amplifier (high energy version), Empower 30, Optical Parametric Amplifier (OPA).The amplifier can generate >2mJ <50fs laser pulse, which can pump up to five OPAs. The OPA can tune the wavelength from UV (300nm) to mid-IR (11 um). Besides the laser sources, this room is also equipped with TCSPC module, CCD based spectrometers, 1GHz digital oscilloscope and many other optoelectronic instruments.This room is used for various novel ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopic measurements on optical properties of materials. Currents available experiemntal setup for measurements include: fluorescence lifetime measuremnts (TCSPC), Pump-probe, z-scan, two-photon induced fluorescence. More setup is under development. Laser Room 2 (within S7-03-13): this room is curtain seprated from the main laser room, equipped with a Zeiss LSM 410 confocal microscope, an Ar+ laser and a Spectra-Physics Millennia Pro 5s solid state laser. The fs Ti:sapphire oscillator is under construction. This room is used for fluorescence lifetime and lifetime imaging measuremnts. Chemical Preparation Room: Besides a small prepration room within S7-03-13, which is equipped with a fumehood, we share portion of another room (S7-04-07), which is equipped with more fumehoods and more dedicated for chemical synthesis.
