PhD position in Structural and Cellular Biochemistry in the field Research & Education bei Klinikum der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Institut für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie II Reference number: info 10072011 Advertised on: 08.06.11 The Structural Biochemistry Group (PD Dr. Reza Ahmadian) at the Institute of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology II, Heinrich-Heine-University Medical Center, invites applications for a PhD position in Structural and Cellular Biochemistry Planned project: Identification and functional characterization of novel protein complexes containing small GTPases. Goals: Understanding cellular signal integration and networks of protein complexes at lipid membranes. Area of research: Protein and lipid biochemistry, structural, molecular and cellular biology. Methods: State-of-the-art techniques in recombinant DNA technology (PCR, cloning, protein expression systems, site-directed mutagenesis), protein and lipid biochemistry (protein purification, protein analytics, crystallization of proteins, Biacore, ITC, fluorescence spectroscopy), enzyme assays, structure-function studies on proteins and protein complexes and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) for visualization of protein compartmentalization. Prerequisite: Excellent Diploma or Master Degree in Biochemistry or related disciplines; desirable are experiences in protein chemistry, cell culture and cell fractionation as well as recombinant DNA technology. Starting date: The position is available from September 1st 2011. Duration: The contract will be initially for 1.5 years with the possibility of extension for two years.
