Dear XX, I am sorry but I still need to wait perhaps as long as one or two weeks before I can officially offer you a position in my group. I realize that you have other offers and may have to accept them but I cannot make you an offer without having the funds guaranteed. I am >95% sure that this will happen but, of course, I will understand it if you decide to accept one of the other offers. You bare clearly an excellent student and researcher and will have a great postdoctoral career. I hope you can wait a little longer and give me a chance to make you an offer here.
