In my opinion,your BF may consider that a married person will not get promoted.But I want to say there are many of successful person around me is married, and they told me marriage is an important part in their life.All work and no fun,his life is not complete.
As if he tell his colleges he is available, but actually they found he is not.They thought him as a man with bad reputation.So that will really influence his work.
