The government should require all young adults to perform some kind of national service, such as military service or social work? If you never experience a kind of national service, you can never understand what T. Hughes said, Life is not all beer and skittles. John Kennedy also said, My fellows, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. I believe they had it right. First of all, attending national service can develop young adults¡¯ national pride. Who has forgotten the circumstance that you first took part in military training? Who does not have the feeling of pride when you performed social work? Weather you idolized soldiers when thay are training? In a word, attending national service can give young adults a sense of national pride. But other than providing us with national pride, we cannot ignore the values and principles national service has given. I first took participate in military training when I was twelve. I can never forget the hard but exciting experience. Before that, I was a flower having grown in the greenhouse. During military training, I learned independece, teamwork and obey the commend strictly. There is no denying the fact that national service can upgrate ourselves. Last but not least, through national service we can meet people of divise backgroud. In the earthquake aiding activity in SiChuan, a province of China, I met many persons who have common interests when I was a volunteer. We were all high on social service, so we talked about common topics and have a good time. What¡¯s more, we left our phone numbers and dated to join in the next social service. As has been outlined previously, performing national service can develop national pride, learn values and priciples, meet individuals of different backgroud. I therefore back up my stand point that the government should require all young adults to perform national service. |
