【Pure water】To the University I’ve ever dreamed of
|

During my one-week stay in University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), I’ve really learned something beneficial although my dream hasn’t finally been realized. That was my second visit to the University since I’d been there for a few days during last Golden Week. I can still recall my first arrival which would be the most unforgettable one in my life as I suffered so much on the night train. However, the coincidence that I was accosted by three college students from other universities in Wu Han made me feel more comfortable. Having heard that I was preparing for the Entrance Examination for the Candidates of Postgraduates of USTC, they were all surprised. I know exactly that this university has established a wide fame domestically and even internationally. That’s why I was then planning for going to this university to do my postgraduate research which I once believed to be part of my future life. But things did not work out like what I’ve been thinking of. Before going there last October, I had been really looking forward to my first contact with this newly-born university which was established in 1958 and destined to lots of widely recognized achievements. There also once flocked the most talented scientists in China and now it is still a place where wonderful new ideas flourished. They’ve got the smartest professors, the most advanced laboratory instruments and the best multi-disciplinary subjects! All those contribute to the great success. So I just imagined my dream to start with this Ivory Tower. However, the result turned out to be very depressing. Finally, I haven’t got the chance for further studying there and my whole ambitious plan was melt down. I felt especially sad when I was informed the news that I haven’t been accepted. Memories flooded through me as if I was standing in front of the statue of the first president of this university, namely MoRuo-Guo and the monument of discovering the asteroid named USTC. The melody of their school songs are still swirling and beating in my ears… Almost one week from my returning to Wu Han now, I’m steadily recovering from all this depression. Maybe there is another way that I could eventually make my dream come true and all I need for that success is to persist on what I’m really interested in! |

| It is really a long paragraph I have never read here. From your post I know you were not permitted as a postgraduate into USTC. Although it is a fact, but I know you are one of the best students in your university. At least I believe your English is very good. You wrote a long paragraph to describe what you encountered when you twice visited USTC. There are few mistakes in the paragraph you wrote from the grammar point of view. One reason that I admire you is that your English is very good. The second reason that I admire you is that how short of the time you spend on recovering from the shock. I belive you will be successfull if you do not give up your aim. |
