Numerous biological structures and chemicals appear to be involved in aggression. One is the hypothalamus, a region of the brain. In response to certain stimuli, many animals show instinctive aggressive reactions. The hypothalamus appears to be involved in this inborn reaction pattern: electrical stimulation of part of the hypothalamus triggers stereotypical aggressive behaviors in many animals. In people, however, whose brains are more complex, other brain structures apparently moderate possible instincts.


1. According to paragraph 2, what evidence indicates that aggression in animals is related to the hypothalamus?
○Some aggressive animal species have a highly developed hypothalamus.
○Artificial stimulation of the hypothalamus results in aggression in animals.
○Animals behaving aggressively show increased activity in the hypothalamus.
○Animals who lack a hypothalamus display few aggressive tendencies.

我选B，因为原文中标红色的那句话。
但是答案选C。所以请教一下大家。

第三句话，In response to certain stimuli, many animals show...
原文是certain stimuli才能激活本能
而答案B说的是Artificial stimulation，缺少限定词了，意思就是全部的Artificial stimulation 都能激活了
而C的意思就很严谨：有本能反应，必定hypothalamus被激活了的
注意这种偷换限定词！

非常感谢你的回答啊。我是因为这句话electrical stimulation of part of the hypothalamus triggers stereotypical aggressive behaviors in many animals 选的B。另外，C的意思是不是：动物表现攻击性时下丘脑活动增加？这个意思好像是反的。

qlqznb(金币+3): 我明白了！！哈哈，原文中说的是 刺激下丘脑的而一部分，就有攻击行为。答案B是说刺激下丘脑就有攻击行为。谢谢你的回答啊！！！没有上个辅导班还真是不行啊！ 2011-03-30 20:50:07

可不可以这样理解
有behaving aggressively时，必然有下丘脑活动增加
但是下丘脑活动增加，未必就会behaving aggressively
